As usual Burke County 4-H has many opportunities for youth to be
involved and to win CASH prizes!

Coloring Contest -
    Open to all youth ages 5-12.  Coloring sheets have been sent to ALL
elementary Schools, and are available at the 3 Branches of Public
Library, at the Fairgrounds, and at the Cooperative Extension Office.
Entries are due no later than Monday, Oct. 9th.

Scarecrow Contests--
    This event is sponsored by Cooperative Extension and Advisory Council.
  Open to Burke County citizens 5 years old and up!  Scarecrows must be
turned in by Oct. 9th.

PUMPKIN PATCH-
    Burke County 4-H is working with North Morganton Methodist Church to
have a Pumpkin Patch.  This will be an area where fairgoers can have
their pictures made in a "pumpkin patch".  It will be a great setting
for baby pictures, or family pictures.  Photos will be $5.00 per print.
  All proceeds will go to the Burke County 4-H Program.  Photos will be
taken Wednesday - Friday 6-8 pm and on Saturday from 3-5 pm and 6-8 pm.
     In addition to having your picture made, you can purchase your
pumpkin on site, for the Halloween season from North Morganton Methodist
Church.

Livestock Exhibit -
    This year 4-H members will provide the animals for the Livestock
Exhibit.  There will be a variety of animals to see from cows, horses,
sheep, goats, and even rabbits!  In addition 4-Hers will have a display
set-up to show their project work with their animal for fairgoers to
view.  Visit the Livestock Barn to check these out!

Goat Show -
    On Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 5:30 pm a 4-H & Youth GOAT Show will be held.
  Youth must have pre-registered to participate.  During the show,
participants will be judged on showmanship, and goats judged on quality.
  ALso, special this year will be a GOAT Costume Contest.  Youth ages
5-18 are eligible to participate.

PUBLIC AUCTION-Click here for a list of items!
    The 2nd Annual 4-H Auction will be held on Friday, Oct. 13th in the
Entertainment Arena beginning at 7:00 pm.  Items and Animals have been
donated to Auction off, to raise funds to provide scholarships and
opportunities for youth involved in the Burke County 4-H Program.  There
will be a wide variety of items up for sale during the LIVE AUCTION
including but NOT limited to: furniture, gift certificates, novelty
items, glassware, and live animals.
    Come out and enjoy the fun, and purchase some new treasures while
helping to invest in the youth of Burke County!!

the Extension Office before OCt. 6th!(828-439-4460).
   ALL DONATED ITEMS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

Exhibit Hall -
    There will also be several 4-H club and members with booths in the
Exhibit Hall to show what is happening in 4-H.  Also, the Extension
Community Associations - (previously called Extension Homemakers) will
have booths, as well as an informational booth from Cooperative
Extension and the Burke COunty Beekeepers.
    In addition, the MASTER GARDENERS will have a booth, where people can
bring questions, plants, bugs to be answered and identified.
